How do I get access to the Profiler module? The profiler module is most probably on the CD from which you installed your GeneSys software. It needs to be separately installed. The reason for this you need to attain a certain level of user sophistication before you can use Profiler effectively. You need to know how to create and manage groups on GeneSys, not just working with individual respondents. Particularly, you need to know how to create groups using a filter. It will also be helpful to know how to create your own norms. You can install Profiler yourself and start using it, but we strongly recommend that you come for advanced GeneSys training and also for specific training on Profiler. Psytech SA will only give telephonic support to users who have been trained to use the software. How often should I back up my data and what should I back up?Computers get stolen, they break down and wear out. You should have backups of your data. GeneSys offers sophisticated backup and data management capabilities, but you need to use them. For backing up and restoring backed up files, it is important to familiarise yourself with the options behind the "data management" button on GeneSys. Familiarise yourself with the different types of files that you can import and export. Back up your database as a whole. You should back up your data regularly, whenever you have done something significant to your database, like testing a lot of people or reorganising your respondents into groups. You can backup the database as a whole, or you can export specific groups for backup. The group information on GeneSys is important and can take a lot of time to set up, therefore we recommend that when you back up your data, you also export the groups to gse files, in a special folder on your hard drive. In that case, you can always get them back. If you have created norms using your own data, it is a good idea to export the group of respondents you used to create the norm, so that you have it "Frozen in time". It is not only important to back up group files that you used for norms. Whenever you run a major project, make sure you have all the respondents in a group file, and export the group to a gse file. Then you can always access those data again, even if you have to move your GeneSys software to a new computer or move the project to a different GeneSys system. You should also back up your norm files if you have created your own norms. GeneSys allows you to export norm files. If you have custom batteries that you would like to save, especially if they have matching reports, back up those as well. You can export battery files - it is worth doing. Separately from GeneSys, back up any email attachments you received from Psytech, particularly files containing fixes, patches and enhancements that we sent you.
